Laguna Hills is a community in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Laguna Hills is located in the foothills of southern Orange County, approximately 30 miles (48 km) southeast of the county seat, Santa Ana. It is known for its secluded neighborhoods and nature preserves. The population was 35,558 at the 2010 census.

The Laguna Hills Community Association defines the community as basically Aliso Viejo south of El Toro Road, including all of the neighborhoods from Camino Capistrano to El Toro Road and from Las Flores to Alicia Parkway. The eastern border is Cleo Springs Rd. and to the west is the newly incorporated city of Rancho Santa Margarita. Laguna Hills has two distinct areas: the Village and Saddleback Valley (or “the hills”). Approximately six miles from town, the hills begin and offer residents a more rustic setting within easy reach of civilization. Saddleback Butte, one such undeveloped area, offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, Saddleback Ridge, and surrounding cities. Adolph Rimpau bought 2,000 acres in this area in 1949 before any houses had been built.

In terms of education, locals will be happy to know that there are a handful of elementary schools within walking distance; however, high school students must travel outside of the city to attend classes. There are only two colleges nearby but both have excellent programs.
