People are sometimes told by a fabric or rug supplier that they should not have stain protection applied to their wool rugs or fabrics, implying that the wool inherently contains stain resistant properties.
This may have been true while the wool was still on the sheep!
Sheep's wool contains lanolin, which is a yellow waxy substance that aids in shedding water from their coats.
If you have ever seen a sheep up close, you will see their coats are pretty dirty. Lanolin attracts dirt.
Fortunately the lanolin is removed when processed into yarn. If it did not...your rugs and upholstery would attract dirt like the sheep.
So have those expensive wool rugs and fabrics protected with STAIN FREE.
